The deadline for entries in the 20110 editorial contest will be  March 1. See page 2 for details.  This year’s spring conference will be held April 7-8 at Moraine Valley Community College, Palos Hills.

Again this year, the conference will be held on a Thursday-Friday, beginning in the afternoon on Thursday, April 7, and concluding with an awards banquet at noon on Friday, April 8.

Ted Powers, adviser of the Glacier and past president of ICCJA will be the host for the conference.  Registration generally takes place fromnoon to 2 p.m. Thursday. Four education sessions will be held at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. followed by the conference’s keynote speaker at 5 p.m.

The ICCJA Board of Directors will meet on Friday morning.   On Friday, the conference generally gets started with four educational sessions at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.   The awards luncheon will begin at noon.

Details on the conference will be forthcoming in a separate mailing in March. However, a registration form for the conference is included in this newsletter in case anyone wants to handle requests from their schools for dues and registration at one time.   If your school has frozen travel money and you will not be able to attend the conference, please let John Ryan know.

Brenda Protz, adviser at Lincoln Land Community College, is the president of ICCJA. She can be reached at Brenda.Protz@llcc.edu.

Membership dues also allows members to attend the fall conference, which is held at EIU.

Like the spring conference, the fall conference offers educational sessions, but they are geared for training of new staff members to help them with their publications in the new year.   The spring conference offers more general sessions and is centered around the awards luncheon and announcement of the contest winners.
